Correspondence, form letter to modelers about the PAA-Load event at the 1949 Nats, including prizes and rules/specifications. Signed by George Gardner, Educational Director, Pan American World Airways System, Long Island City, New York, dated March 1, 1949. Pages were originally stapled; staples were taken out to scan pages. Per the official program (A2017.20.138), the 1949 Nats was held Monday, July 25 to Sunday, July 31 in Kansas. Registration and meetings were held on Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26 and competition from Tuesday, July 26 to Sunday, July 31. Outdoor events were held at U.S. Naval Air Station, Olathe, Kansas. Indoor events were held at the Municipal Auditorium, Kansas City, Missouri. Although some original material from the 1949 Nats advertises it as the 18th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 23rd Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
