Blank form, entry blank, paper is blue-green in color, headline title "ENTRY BLANK, Flying Scale Model Contest, 1940 National Model Airplane Championship, Sanctioned by the National Aeronautic Association, SPONSORED BY CHICAGO DAILY TIMES AND CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JULY 1-6, 1940", addressed to "Frank Nekimken, Contest Director, Hotel Sherman, Chicago, Illinois". There are staple holes in the top left corner of this item; at one time, forms A2025.02.88, A2025.02.89 and A2025.02.90 may have been stapled together. The 1940 Nats was held July 1 to 6 in Chicago, Illinois. (Registration on July 1.) Although some original material from the 1940 Nats advertises it as the 13th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 18th Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
