Flyer, meeting agenda on blue paper, printed at top of page: "OPEN MEETING CONTEST BOARD (Control), 1949 AMA NATIONALS - OLATHE, KANSAS, Wednesday, July 27, 8:00 p.m., NAS Station Auditorium, Walter A. Good, Silver Spring, Maryland, Presiding...", meeting agenda includes purpose and tentative agenda. Per the official program (A2017.20.138), the 1949 Nats was held Monday, July 25 to Sunday, July 31 in Kansas. Registration and meetings were held on Monday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 26 and competition from Tuesday, July 26 to Sunday, July 31. Outdoor events were held at U.S. Naval Air Station, Olathe, Kansas. Indoor events were held at the Municipal Auditorium, Kansas City, Missouri. Although some original material from the 1949 Nats advertises it as the 18th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 23rd Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
