Decal, printed on front: "CONTESTANT 1941 NATIONAL MODEL AIRPLANE CHAMPIONSHIPS" Items A2017.20.70, A2017.20.71, A2017.20.72, A2017.20.73, A2017.20.74, A2017.20.75, A2017.20.76, A2017.20.77, A2017.20.78, A2017.20.79,and A2017.20.80 are related to Walter Erbach's participation in the 1941 Nats. The 1941 Nats was held July 1 to 5 in Chicago, Illinois. (Registration on July 1.) Although some original material from the 1941 Nats advertises it as the 14th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 19th Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
