(Registration on Tuesday, August 3 and Wednesday, August 4, competition from Wednesday, August 4 to Sunday, August 8.) Per the 1948 Nats brochure ("Bulletin", A2017.20.128), Indoor events were held at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri, and outdoor events were held at the U.S. Naval Air Station at Olathe, Kansas. Although some original material from the 1948 Nats advertises it as the 17th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 22nd Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
