Assignment cards, five paper cards stapled together, identifying contestant Frank Moss, contestant number 795, and his assigned competition events, groups, dates, and field headquarters number at the 1940 Nats. Card 1: Senior class, Group 5, July 2, 1940, Moffett event, Pit 5 Card 2: Senior class, Group 6, July 4, 1940, A Gas event, Pit 6 Card 3: Senior class, Group 2, July 6, 1940, B Gas event, Pit 2 Card 4: Senior class, Group 3, July 4, 1940, C Gas event, Pit 3 Card 5: Senior class, Group 5, July 6, 1940, Mulvihill event, Pit 5 The 1940 Nats was held July 1 to 6 in Chicago, Illinois. (Registration on July 1.) Although some original material from the 1940 Nats advertises it as the 13th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 18th Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
