Color slide, quarter scale Macchi-Castoldi MC-72 Schneider Cup racer on water, outdoors, stamped and handwritten on cardboard frame "8914, 19". From notes with slides: "Lake Poway seaplanes - Piper J-3 Cub etc.". This image was used for Robert H. Munn's article, "Floatplane Fine Tuning", published in the June 1990 issue of Model Aviation magazine. In caption on page 107, "Left: This Macchi-Castoldi MC-72 Schneider Cup racer is mushing along, slow to get on-step, probably because the pilot is holding in too much up elevator during acceleration and forcing the tail down." Photographs A2020.10.152 and A2020.10.157 are of same model aircraft. |
