Reprint, panoramic photograph, 3rd annual dinner, dealers, jobbers, and manufacturers, Nats, July 2, 1940 (reprint from original) Handwritten in lower right corner "THIRD ANNUAL DINNER DEALER*JOBBERS*MANUFACTURERS IN CONJUNCTION WITH NATIONAL MODEL AIRPLANE CHAMPIONSHIPS, JULY 2, 1940, OLD TOWN ROOM * HOTEL SHERMAN CHICAGO, ILL." Handwritten in lower left corner "Empire STUDIOS". The 1940 Nats was held July 1 to 6 in Chicago, Illinois. (Registration on July 1.) Although some original material from the 1940 Nats advertises it as the 13th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 18th Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
