Newspaper clipping, article reads: "TOY PLANE CONTEST TROPHY, The Mulvihill Trophy for the model plane contest at St. Louis Field yesterday was won by E.G. Lang [sic], 17, of Chicago, who broke all duration records for keeping toy planes in the air. The trophy is the gift of Bernard H. Mulvihill, vice president of the National Aeronautic Association.", The St. Louis Times, October 4, 1923. Per the commemorative program book from the 50th Nats (1976), celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Nats, Edward J. Lange won first place in Event Number 6 at the 1923 air races (considered the first Nats), winning the Mulvihill trophy. |
