Booklet, on cover, "Twelfth National Championship, NAA, Model Airplane Meet, Detroit, July 5-9, MEET HEADQUARTERS - HOTEL FORT SHELBY, Under Direction and Supervision of The Detroit Metropolitan Council of Exchange Clubs, Approved by the National Exchange Club, Sanctioned by the National Aeronautic Association, Indoor Events GROSSE ILE HANGAR, Outdoor Events WAYNE COUNTY AIRPORT", 1939. [Note: Two loose entry blanks were found tucked inside cover page. Not assigned numbers yet.] The 1939 Nats was held July 5 to 9 in Detroit, Michigan. Although some original material from the 1939 Nats advertises it as the 12th Nats, this Nats is currently considered the 17th Nats based on other historical research. The first contest that is considered the Nats by the National Model Aviation Museum is the Mulvihill Model Trophy contest event held during the 1923 international air races in St. Louis. |
