  9. Model Airplane - 1937 Wakefield Model

    A reproduction of Emmanuel Filon's 1937 Wakefield Cup winner, as built by Anders Hakansson. Wakefield models are rubber-powered Free Flight model airplanes. This model has a diamond-shaped fuselage and a high wing. It is built of traditionally framed balsa wood and covered in doped tissue. The model has a yellow fuselage and red wing.

  12. Model Airplane - First Winning Wakefield Model Reproduction

    Reproduction of E.W. Twining's winning Wakefield model from 1911. Free Flight rubber-powered, the model has a single fuselage stick, forward canard and twin props. The square wing is set far back on the fuselage and is covered in white linen, as is the canard. This design was published as "The First Wakefield Winner" and called a "historic machine" in the magazine Flying on April 8, 1939.

    George Reich's Max Maker Wakefield Model, Free Flight, rubber-powered. A prior model, very similar to this, competed in the 1958 Wakefield Event. Flying this model, George set a national record of 20 minutes 59 seconds on September 26, 1960 in Cleveland, OH and went on to win the 1961 Wakefield event at the Free Flight World Championships.
