SQuiRT model airplane built from a Stevens AeroModel Almost Ready to Fly kit. Radio Control. Balsa wood construction, covered in Monokote. Cabin fuselage with high mounted wing. Mainly white with red and blue decals. Electric powered. This model, referred to as the SQuiRT, was flown in all fifty United States by over 800 pilots who all delivered the model to each other in person in an effort called Wings Across America. They were organized through online web forums and email from 2008-2013. The concept was conceived and organized by Frank Geisler. Frank first flew the model on May 24, 2008 and it was last flown on its day of donation to the museum. |
