1848 Steam Power Monoplane Reproduction |
Description (ex. RP-63G) |
Reproduction of a monoplane powered by steam power, designed, built, and flown by John Stringfellow in 1848. The plane consists of a large frame and fabric wing with two pusher props above a gray-colored cabin enclosing the motor. The aircraft was attached to a liberator mechanism that was attached to a wire running across the length of an empty factory room. The plane was launched along that guide wire, and then disengaged from it after hitting a wood block. It then continued to fly. |
