Wheel, Surveyor's - Measuring Wheel
Surveyor's wheel. Young and Sons measuring wheel. Brass wheel with black rubber trend with wooden handle and hand brake. Numbers are faint but visible on the surface of the wheel. Wheels like these were used by early model aviation clubs to measure the distance that model airplanes flew.

Whistle - Whistle
metal whistle attached to a black rubber cord. "The Acme Thunuerer Made in England" is engraved on the mouthpiece. This whistle was part of the kit that Bill Ayers brought to the 1962 Control Line World Championships. It is on display in the early Free Flight competitions exhibit, as whistles were used as communication devices during competitions in the 1910s.

Winch, used for towing gliders/sailplanes. Winch is contained in a laminated wood cabinet, painted white, with removable handle and wheels. Winch components include a yellow turnaround, two metal "T" handles, the parachute and a leather wheel bag.

Original top wing for Bill Heger's Knight Twister. Traditionally built from balsa wood and covered in silkspan. Cream, orange and dark blue. 48" long. Wing did not meet size requirements as built for the 1973 National Multiwing Championship and other events, so it was removed before the contest and replaced with the wing currently on the model, which is bigger.
