    This Control Line model took Andy Sheber 4 years to build and features working retractable landing gear, flaps, beacon, navigation lights, and detailed interior. It placed 3rd in Open CL Scale at the 1969 Nats and also won the Testors Award for Best Finish. He flew the model at the 1st Scale World Championships held in Cranfield England in 1970.     Control Line Scale model of a Boeing Stearman PT-17 built and flown by Ron Sears. Traditionally built of framed balsa and covered in silkspan. US Army markings. Model competed at 26 events between 1980 and 1986, including the 1984 Scale World Championships (placed 7th) and the 1986 Scale World Championships (placed 9th). Engine is believed to be a Super Tigre - unsure of size. 65" wingspan.

  12. Model Airplane - Gulfhawk 4 CL Model

    Grumman F8F Bearcat Gulfhawk 4 Control Line model airplane, as built by Pete MacZura. Orange with black accent lines on fuselage and "Gulfhawk 4" in white lettering between them. This model won 1st place at the World Championship held in Swinderby, England in August 1966, where it was proxy flown by Bob Gialdini.

  13. Model Airplane - Martin-Baker MB.5 CL Scale Model

    1/10th scale Martin-Baker MB.5 Control Line Scale model built and flown by Keith Trostle. The model was built and first flown in the late 1970s and continuing flying until 2000, when it won CL Scale at the 2000 Nats. Built from balsa wood and sheeted, it is covered in silk and then doped. It has operating flaps, a sliding canopy, working lights and working cockpit controls, among other scale details. The wingspan is 42".

  14. Model Airplane - P2V-7 Neptune CL Scale Model

    Lockheed P2V-7 Neptune, Control Line Scale, designed, built and flown by Henry "Hank" Pohlmann in 1959. Traditionally built of framed balsa and covered in painted tissue, the model was drafted and built using a Revell kit as a source. It is approximately 1/22 scale, with a wingspan of 53". It has installed two McCoy 35 Red Head engines. Hank competed with this model until about 1961.

  15. Model Airplane - Piper J-C Cub CL Model

    Control Line Scale model of a Piper J-3 Cub built and flown by Charlie Bauer. This was the 1st electric-powered Control Line model flown at the Nats in 1989. In 2004 it became the 1st electric-powered Control Line model flown at a World Championship. The first motor was an Astro Flight geared 25; this was replaced in 2000 by an MAXX products 40 outrunner. The 40 outrunner is still installed in the model. 76" wingspan
